In printmaking, the image is a print of the plates used to make that print. For example, to make an intaglio print, the graphic artist needs many different layers. Each of these layers has a different drawing; and so different colours can be printed. Only by printing all the layers on top of each other is the print completed and the image formed.
This is how we see our proposal for Z33: a print made up of many layers; each plate with a different drawing, colour and density, with the building as an underlay. Each room can be seen as a separate slab with its own specific colour. Yet it can only exist in collaboration with another slab/room, and in this way the full image of our project is made…
