Artist in residence in Kaunas in the context of Modernism for the Future program

June/July 2021

The Lithuanian city of Kaunas will be European Capital of Culture in 2022. Together with Kaunas, the Institute for Cultural Strategy (CSI, Lviv, Ukraine) and Industra Art (Brno, Czech Republic), Intercommunale Leiedal allows artists to reflect on modernist architecture within the Creative Europe project Modernism for the Future 360/365.

With their artistic project, the artist-researchers develop an interpretation of the buildings in question as a starting point for a holistic approach to sustainability and a dialogue about the importance of modernist heritage for this and future generations.

The international jury has meanwhile selected 16 artistic projects. The results of the 16 works will be presented in January 2022 during the opening ceremony of Kaunas as the 2022 Capital of Culture.
